Mediocre Minimal Launcher (Android package
dk.antontanderup.MediocreMinimalLauncher) is a home screen
launcher published by Mediocre Applications (“we”,
“us”). It does not collect, store or transmit personal data.
There is no account to create, no analytics SDK, no advertising network,
and no third-party data sharing of any kind.
We operate no backend. The launcher has no server of ours to talk to. Everything it reads — your installed apps, how often you open them, your calendar and, if you allow it, your contacts — is read on your device, used on your device, and stored only on your device.
1. What stays on your device
Your home screen layout, pinned apps and groups, gesture assignments, appearance choices and every other setting are written to the app’s own private storage on your phone. So is the app-usage information the launcher derives to surface your most-used apps. None of it is sent to us, and none of it can be recovered by us if it is lost.
Uninstalling the launcher, or clearing its storage from Android’s app settings, deletes all of it permanently. If you export a backup of your settings, that file goes wherever you choose to save it — it is your copy, and it is never uploaded anywhere by the app.
2. Permissions
Each permission below is used for one feature and nothing else. Nothing read under any of them is transmitted off the device.
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES
Used to list the apps installed on your device so they can be shown, searched and launched from the home screen. A launcher cannot do its job without seeing the app list.
PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS
Optional. Used to see how recently and how often you open apps, so the launcher can surface your most-used and recent apps. The launcher works without it; those features are simply unavailable.
READ_CALENDAR
Optional. Used to display your upcoming events in the calendar card on the home screen. Events are read as the card is drawn and are not copied anywhere.
READ_CONTACTS and WRITE_CONTACTS
Optional. Used to find contacts from the search screen and to let you pin a contact to the home screen for quick calling or messaging. Contact details are read on demand when you search or open a pinned contact; write access is used only to act on a contact you chose (such as marking one a favourite). Contact data is never collected, stored in bulk or transmitted.
Widgets, vibration and the status bar
BIND_APPWIDGET lets you place ordinary Android widgets on the
home screen; each widget is drawn by the app that owns it and its data
never passes through us. VIBRATE provides haptic feedback,
and EXPAND_STATUS_BAR lets a gesture pull down the
notification shade or quick settings. On Android 12 and older,
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE and WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
are declared so you can pick a wallpaper or icon image and save or load a
settings backup.
INTERNET
Declared as part of the standard Android application setup. The launcher makes no network requests of its own: it has no servers, sends no telemetry, and downloads no content. Opening a link (for example an open-source licence page from the attributions screen) hands the URL to your browser, which then behaves as it normally would.
3. What we never collect
The launcher does not ask for and does not collect your name, email address, phone number, photos, microphone or camera input, or location. It contains no analytics or attribution SDK, no crash-reporting service, and no advertising of any kind. We receive nothing about how you use it.
4. Google Play
Distribution is handled by Google Play. We can see aggregate, anonymised statistics in the Play Console — install counts, crash rates, country totals, device breakdowns — and any review or rating you choose to write publicly. Google’s own handling of that data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy, not by this one.
5. Children
The launcher is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this app, contact us at the address below and we will act on it.

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to access, correct, erase and object to the processing of your personal data, and to complain to your national data protection authority. Because we hold no data about you at all — no database, no server, no account — there is nothing for us to look up, export or delete on your behalf; the controls listed above, on your own device, are the complete set.
7. Changes to this policy
When the launcher gains a feature that changes what data is involved, this page is updated in the same release and the date at the top changes with it. The history of every change to this page is public, commit by commit, in the repository that serves it.
